We fund programs by operating Assistance League Thrift and Consignment Shop, with grants, special events and donations. Our local community service programs benefit children and victims of assault. We offer scholarships for students pursuing an education in trades. Operation School Bell ® Operation School Bell issued 2,895 clothing vouchers to students in Beaverton and Hillsboro for new clothes and $15,000 to the Portland Public Schools PTA Clothing Closet during the 2020-21 school year. Assault Survivor Kits ® Victims of assault and domestic violence surrender their clothing as evidence in a medical facility. Assault Survivor Kits offer more than a fresh set of clothes; they offer dignity to survivors. 133 Assault Survivor Kits containing clothing and personal hygiene products for all genders were distributed to 17 local hospitals and facilities for victims of assault and rape. Youth Support at Cordero Assistance League supported the recovery of 19 youth this year in residential treatment at Cordero, a Janus Youth Program. We provided enrichment activities, field trips and celebrations for the boys. We have been there for these boys since 1979. Scholarship Program ’s Scholarship program provides funds for student candidates entering a trades program. Thirteen scholarships were awarded to students enrolled in trades programs at Portland Community College. Funds for tuition, books and materials to help students develop skills and expertise to earn a livable wage.
